Nutritional Support for Woman
With today’s hectic lifestyles and increased exposure to toxins in the environment, it is becoming increasingly important to ensure that you are feeding your body with all the nutrients it needs to help prevent illness and dis-ease. Scientific research has shown that women have different nutritional requirements to men. They have a more complex hormonal pattern, as well as an increased risk of bone loss and urinary tract infections.
The menstrual cycle involves many hormonal changes during which the body is made ready for pregnancy. The monthly loss of blood occurs when fertilization has not occurred. The result is that an extra requirement for the blood building nutrients Vitamin B12, Folic Acid and iron. Vitamin K is needed to aid blood clotting.
Hormonal imbalance is becoming increasingly common and has many possible causes including stress and pollution. Scientific evidence shows that the importance of the B family of vitamins for excretions of ‘old’ oestrogens from the body, which if not removed, may contribute to hormonal disruption and PMS.
Bone loss generally begins in the mid 30’s. One of the factors appears to be the gradual reduction of oestrogen in the body. Phytoestrogens from foods such soya milk, tofu, chickpeas and linseeds, have been shown in clinical research to slow down the rate of bone loss. In addition calcium, magnesium, zinc, boron and vitamin C are essential for strong healthy bones.
Antioxidants are vital in protecting the body from the effects of stress pollution, chemicals in food and sun damage. Vitamins A, C, E, selenium and caroteniods are amongst the most protective antioxidant compounds.

Yoga, Spirit & Power
Retreats are a wonderful opportunity for you to find that inner peace and quiet you need. On this retreat, the emphasis is on re-energizing, yet with a calming focus and with space and time for meditation and relaxation.
Yoga is a gentle yet powerful practice of listening to the wisdom and intelligence held within our bodies. It's a helpful tool for integration and personal healing that helps us to connect with what is most meaningful and alive in our lives.
Combining this with meditation and ritual we will explore the body, not just as a foundation for practice but as a source of inspiration and teaching.
Yoga: Both days will start with pranayama & asanas, gradually building up into a dynamic & flowing yoga practice. Roanna will also teach an afternoon practice which will focus more on the subtle aspects of yoga, such as breathing (pranayama), deep relaxation (yoga nidra), followed by a led meditation and group work.
This retreat is not for absolute beginners but for those who already have a little experience and are keen to improve their practice, deepen their understanding (physically, mentally, and spiritually) and experience the transformative essence of yoga - bringing the benefits into their everyday lives.
Meals: Our meals are prepared with love and care, so you benefit from a healthy and delicious menu that will compliment your yoga experience. All the meals provided are vegetarian and of the highest quality. Meals & refreshments will be included for: Friday evening, Saturday breakfast and lunch and Sunday breakfast and lunch.
You will be free on Saturday evening to enjoy your own entertainment. A short distance away is the historic town of Marlborough, Savernake Forest, beautiful West Woods and Pewsey Canal, as well as the mysterious Avebury Stones.
What to bring: Some of your favourite comfy yoga clothes. Yoga mats are provided but feel free to bring your own if you choose. A throw or blanket for meditation and yoga nidra.
